The latter feature allows you to use lossless scaling to generate extra frames in games (including emulators) that don't have such support.
Lossless scaling is also useful for scaling modern games if you can't play them at native screen resolution (GPU limited) and want to eliminate artifacts caused by linear scaling of the GPU driver, as well as for scaling older and pixelated games that don't support modern screen resolutions or full screen.
For modern games, it's better to use LS1 or AMD FSR. To size pixel art games, use Exact Scale or xBR. Anime4K is great for cartoons and anime.
